1 John 2:17 (New International Version)
17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
Well folks there was definitely a common theme between a book that I'm reading and my diected bible study.
John 14
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."
Jesus the Way to the Father
5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."
9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
This shows that the way to eternal life is as sure as the trust that we have in Jesus. Eternal life is real. The only issue that may be unsettled is our willingness to believe. Jesus has prepared a place for us and he will come back. We can look forward to it because he has promised it to us. Jesus has prepared it and will spend eternity with us. The only way to God is through Jesus because he is both man and God. By uniting wiht him, we unite with God. Trust Jesus and all the benefits of being God's child will be yours. We should thank God for providing a way to get to him. As the way, Jesus is the path to God. As the truth , he is God's realistic promises. As the life, he provides to us eternity. Jesus is the complete revelation to what God is like.To know Jesus is to know God. Jesus told the disciples, that as long as they worked in the power of the holy spirit, that they would carry the gospel fo God's kingdom into the whold world.Never forget that we are his disciples too and that is our overall purpose. Also never forget what the last few weeks have taught us by being fortunate enough to visibly view God's will and power.
We were not made to last forever. When this tent we live in- our body here on earth- is torn down, God will have a house in Heaven for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last forever. When we realize that there is more to life than here and now, we will start living in the life of eternity and that will color how we handle every relationship, task, and circumstance. Suddenly many activities, goals, and even problems that seemed so important will appear trivial, petty, and unworthy of our attention. THe closer you live to God, the smaller everything else appears. Thsi life is preparation for the next. When you live in the light of eternity, your values change. Death is not our termination, but our transiton into etrnity, so there are etrnal consequences to everything we do here on earth.God's plans endure forever and his purposes last eternally. If you have a relationship with God, then there is no need to fear death. We need to understand that every minute spent on earth in our earthly bodies is time spent away from Jesus in Heaven. It ought to be the business of every day to prepare for our final day.
Our Heavenly father, Thank you for sending your son to be a gateway to eternity. Thank you for erasing all of my sin by sacrificing such a huge part of yourself. I am so in awe of being able to spend eternity with you and your children. Please reveal your plan for me and teach me your ways. I pray that all earthly business that must be done by me this week is recognized and executed properly. I pray for my Family that you will protect them with your gentle hand. I pray for my friends that you will answer the prayers that are lifted up by them. I pray for our youth as they begin another week. I ask that you introduce yourself to the ones who do not know you. Lord help me to be a better Christian. Forgive me where I fail you. In your preciaous name I pray.....amen

After my grandfather died recently, who I loved very much, I just had a hunger to know more about heaven. We had taken such meticulous care of him in his last earthly days. He was a truly humble, precious saint that if you could have gotten in heaven on goodness, he would have been as close as it gets. So, after it was all over and the routine had changed and going by to care for him and check on him was over, my thoughts turned to where his spirit was. Oh I knew, but what was it LIKE. This scripture is comforting because we know not only there is heaven, but a special place for us PREPARED by the King of Kings. It is so hard for us to imagine with the minds we have of what heaven will be like. I just can't comprehend and I don't think we are able to fully understand, but I know it will be wonderful. I remember asking him as a child what heaven will be like and his response was "I don't know little doll, but I know it will be WONDERFUL". I needed reassurance of what it was like where he was. Not that I doubted for a second he was there, but just I want to know more. I read "90 minutes in Heaven". If you haven't read this, it was a comfort to me to read it, at least the first part where he experienced some of heaven. Also, I have a couple of interesting stories that were comforting/confirmation that I'll share with you if you need/want to hear them. Lifting up your whole family today, and every day.
